]]> Art is inherently referential. Fashion follows suit with other mediums, referencing painting, religion, history, and film.

When I speak of “fashion,” most people conjure up thoughts of bulimia, coke, Vogue, and all that is commercial and American. However, those who love fashion treat it as an Art (capital A!). Tracing back the references in fashion can be intriguing and artistically broadening.

I stumbled across a shoot with Jessica Stam that made me think of Balthus from the first glance. Aside from being a solidly produced photograph, the Blathus reference is very unique and honorable. The color palette is also exceptional.
